Roommate Dispute Leads to Stabbing in Carlsbad

Carlsbad CA— This morning, January 12 at 8:23 a.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department was called to the 2200 block of Avenida Magnifica.  The caller reported that he had gotten into a dispute with his roommate that he had stabbed his roommate in the back.

The caller went on to report that he had placed the steak knife he used in the sink and that he was waiting on the porch for the Police and Fire Departments.

The caller noted that there was a third roommate inside the apartment that was providing medical aid to the victim.

Officers responded to Avenida Magnifica and took 18-year-old Seth Kuykendall into custody without further incident.

The 20-year-old male roommate was transported by the Oceanside Fire Department to a landing field where he was further transported by air to Scripps Medical Center in La Jolla and is currently in stable condition.

The investigation into why the dispute occurred is ongoing.
