Two Photo Shootout Contests to be held during the Fair on June 17 and June 24
Del Mar CA— Entries for the Exhibition of Photography at the 2017 San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons|Vons, are now being accepted online only through April 14. Offering more than $25,000 in prizes and awards, this exhibition is one of the largest competitive photographic shows on the West Coast. Entry fee is $20 per photograph, and up to 20 entries per person may be entered through sdfair.com.
The Exhibition of Photography is an international show open to anyone 18 years old and older. Typically, the exhibit receives 4,000 photographs including color, black-and-white, digital art and art photography. Every piece is judged by industry professionals and nearly one-third are selected for display during the San Diego County Fair, the largest county Fair in California, with an attendance of more than 1.6 million. This exhibit, historically, is a fairgoer favorite.
This exhibition is a 2-tiered show. In Tier 1, judges view digital images and determine those images that advance to the Tier 2 onsite judging. Advancing exhibitors are notified by April 26 to drop off or ship their matted images by May 16-17. The Tier 2 photos are judged again by industry professionals in a closed, blind judging session. Final results are announced at a special Awards Reception where participants can meet fellow exhibitors and be the first to see their work on display and celebrate their possible winnings. The reception is on June 1; opening day of the Fair is June 2.
In addition, there also are two Photo Shootout Contests during the Fair on June 17 and June 24. To participate, register online by June 2 for $10, which includes your admission to the Fair that day. First place – $75; 2nd place – $50; 3rd place – $25; and ribbons.
