Del Mar CA— The International Exhibition of Fine Art, to be held at the 2017 San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons|Vons, is now accepting entries. The application deadline is April 21, and can be made online only at sdfair.com. Open to artists 18 years old and older, this exhibition features painting, drawings, mixed media, sculptures, ceramics, glass and most art media for judging and exhibition during the Fair. Entries are $20 each, and a limit of two can be made per class, by each artist.
This exhibition is a two-tiered show, receiving an average of 1,500 pieces. In Tier-1, judges view digital images of the art pieces to determine which will advance to the Tier-2 onsite judging. Exhibitors who are notified by May 3 if they qualify for Tier-2, must bring in or ship their art to the Fairgrounds by May 9-10. The art selected for the exhibition can be sold during the Fair, which last year drew more than 1.6 million visitors.
A special awards reception is held on June 3 in the exhibition, for the artists whose work is accepted for the show. Artists will be the first to see their work on display and have the opportunity to meet fellow artists. The Fair opens on June 4.
Within the Exhibition of Fine Art are two one-day contests which take place during the Fair: The Small Image Contest from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on June 8 requires no pre-registration and participation includes your admission to the San Diego County Fair. The Plein Air Painting Contest requires a registration by June 15, and fee of $15 which includes admission to the Fair for the event from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., June 22.
