Oceanside CA— On Monday, April 17th, please join the North County Republican Coalition (NCRC) to hear San Marcos Mayor Jim Desmond address the “Future of San Diego and Palomar Airports.” Having served on the Board of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority since 2007 representing the North County Inland Cities, Mayor Desmond has extensive knowledge regarding day-to-day operations of the airports and the region’s long-term air transportation needs. Land use, public health and safety, and private and business transportation requirements are key issues surrounding our airports.
Jim Desmond was elected Mayor of San Marcos in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 and 2014 without opposition. He serves as Mayor while concurrently working as a pilot for Delta Air Lines. In addition to his duties as mayor, Desmond serves as the city’s primary representative on the board of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and is the chair of the SANDAG Regional Transportation Committee. He also serves as chair of the San Marcos Fire Protection District. Desmond is married with two children, and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mayor Jim Desmond has declared his 2018 candidacy for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, District 5.
