More MiraCosta College Community Ed and Workforce Development Courses for Spring 2017

San Diego County CA— MiraCosta College’s Community Education and Workforce Development Program is offering the following not-for-credit courses this spring:

 Welding & Metal Fabrication
This is an introductory class (or an opportunity to practice existing skills). Topics include:

oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, brazing, soldering; SMAW: electrodes and positions; GMAW: hardwire, short and spray arc, gas coverage; FCAW: inner and dual shield; GTAW: aluminum magnesium, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, and gas coverage; and plasma arc cutting.

Fee: $375. Location: Landes Recreation Center 2855 Cedar Road, Oceanside. Mondays, 5/15–8/28, 5–9 p.m.

Career Readiness Bootcamp

MiraCosta Technology Career Institute Room 101, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad. Wed 5/17, Fri 5/19, Mon 5/22, and Wed 5/24, 5–8 p.m.

Making Shooting Perfect Pictures Easy

To get great pictures, we will cover strategies and basic lighting. These two topics will improve your photographs tenfold, no matter what camera you use. Fee: $39. Location: San Elijo Campus, Room 306, 3333 Manchester Avenue, Cardiff. Wednesday, 5/17, 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Blueprint Reading with GD&T

This hands-on class helps students with blueprint reading and GD&T. They will get an opportunity to draw and edit simple blueprints through step-by-step development of multi-view drawings. In addition, students will learn the basics of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Fee: $200 Admin Fee: $75. Location: Technology Career Institute. Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays, 5/22–6/9 5–8:30 PM

Beginning SolidWorks for 3D Printing

Learn how to use SolidWorks. mechanical design software to build models of parts, assemblies, and drawings. This 30-hour course will also cover design intent, how to modify previously created features, model interrogation and troubleshooting. Fee: $200. Location: Technology Career Institute. Mondays, 6/5–8/14, 6–9 p.m.

Advanced Topics in SolidWorks

SolidWorks. Is used throughout the advanced manufacturing and engineering industries. This CAD program has multiple advanced features, which will be covered throughout this course. The following areas will be covered: multibody solids, modeling advanced shapes, advanced surfaces, and advanced shaping capabilities. Fee: $200. Location: Technology Career Institute. Tuesdays, 6/6–8/15, 6–9 p.m.

Commercial Pilot Certification (CPL)

A comprehensive study of aircraft performance. Fee: Before 6/9, $250. after, $275. Location: Technology Career Institute, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad. Tuesdays & Thursdays 6/22–7/25, 6–8:30 p.m.

Introduction to Aviation Science (IAS)

This course is a survey of the aerospace field, including the functions and operations of various federal and state regulating aviation agencies and airport-based companies. Fee: Before 7/14, $250; after, $275. Location: Technology Career Institute. Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7/27–8/17, 6–8:30 p.m.
