Oceanside CA— The 10th Annual California Surf Museum(CSM) Gala will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the oceanfront Cape Rey Resort, Carlsbad. Just a stone’s throw from the beach, the site offers spectacular sunset views overlooking the Ponto surf break and the Pacific Ocean.
This year’s Gala honors special guests legendary Pipeline master Gerry Lopez, one of the most iconic surfers in history, and Jericho Poppler, surfing champion and advocate for women’s surfing. Fernando Aguerre, President of the International Surfing Association, will also be honored at the Gala for his contribution to bringing surfing into the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Since 1986, CSM has been collecting and preserving the surfing history and artifacts of this popular lifestyle sport and culture as well as producing fascinating exhibits and dynamic educational programs like our current exhibit “China Beach: Surfing During the Vietnam War and the Healing Power of Wave-riding.”
