Whether inflation is high or low, it’s still inflation, which means prices go up. Life insurance rates, however, have come down despite inflation. Healthier lifestyles along with advances in medical science have enabled most of us to live longer lifespans. As a result, insurance companies have adjusted their mortality tables to lower the cost of insurance. Another contributing factor is technology that enables insurance companies to lower their administrative costs. It all adds up to lower rates for you.
What makes this interesting is that most consumers have no idea that life insurance rates are lower than ever before. Indeed, polls show that most consumers think life insurance premiums are many times higher than they really are.
Does this mean you can call any insurance company and get a great deal on life insurance? The answer is no. Just like any industry, there is competition, and some companies are more competitively priced than others. Moreover, some insurance agencies are captive agencies and only represent one insurer. These types of agencies generally sell home, auto, and life insurance, and their life insurance rates are not competitive. In most cases, you will get a much better deal working with an independent life insurance agency or an agent who represents multiple companies. This way you can get the right policy for you. If you don’t know a good independent agent, check out www.LowestQuoteLife.com. They represent about 80% of the life insurance carriers and are one of the best places to look. I’ll talk more about finding a good life insurance agent in my next edition of The Alemian File.
