I was watching the news this morning and saw a tragic story of a father who had died unexpectedly. He left behind a young widow and two babies. The part that really struck me was a “Go Fund Me” account was set up to help the family. This is a clear indication that the family had little or no life insurance. Although the Go Fund Me account will help, it will not be enough for this young mother of two. Imagine suddenly losing the most important person in the world to you, then compound that grief with enormous financial pressure. In all likelihood, they will be forced to struggle financially for many years to come.
The story I just described is not an isolated incident. Most people either do not have enough life insurance, or worse, they have no life insurance. Tens-of-thousands of people die unexpectedly every year, and the majority of them leave behind family members who will struggle to survive financially.
These everyday tragedies can easily be avoided with low cost term life insurance. If you haven’t checked lately, life insurance premiums are ridiculously low if you know where to look. Moreover, you can get it with a simple phone call. Independent agents are generally in a better position to offer you lower rates. Avoid the agencies that represent only one company, as their rates are probably not very competitive. If you are looking for a good place to start, you would do well to check out www.LowestQuoteLife.com. They have multiple carriers, and offer quality advice about which carriers are better suited for certain medical conditions such as Type I diabetes, or cancer. Thanks to advances in medicine, some medical conditions that used to be declined by insurance companies are now accepted at standard or even preferred rates.
The bottom line is if you have children, it’s your duty and responsibility to protect them with life insurance. If you have a spouse who relies on your paycheck, then you need to protect your spouse. If you have a mortgage, at the very least you should have enough life insurance to pay off the mortgage and any other debt for that matter. Remember, the last thing you want in the event you die is for friends and family members to have to start a “Go-Fund-Me” account because there was no life insurance.
