ECHS Grappler Takes 3rd in U.S National Championships

Oklahoma City OK— Last weekend in Oklahoma City, Madlyne Navarro became the first All American in El Camino High School history by placing 3rd in the U.S National Championships.

“This is a huge deal for El Camino as it is the most prestigious girls tournament in the country. Madlyne has for sure secured herself a scholarship to college by placing so high at a tournament like this,” said Matt Holt, El Camino Wrestling Head Coach. ” This is big for her because no one in her family has attended college before.  She has been the epitome of what we look for in a student athlete at El Camino.  In light of the things that she has gone through this year with her mother passing days after watching her place at state, her accomplishment is remarkable.  I could not be more proud as an El Camino coach.”

Madlyne Navarro, a Junior, won 3rd place in California’s state wrestling championships, Saturday, Feb. 24, in Visalia.
