OMFest 2018 Music Series: ’30 Shades of Jazz’-May 18

Oceanside CA— Friday, May 18, 7:00 PM, at Cynthia’s Artistic Expressions, Oceanside Music Fest Series will present ’30 Shades of Jazz’. Whether your taste runs to New Orleans, Dixieland, Fusion, Latin, Hot, or Cool Jazz you are guaranteed an enjoyable evening’s entertainment.

Sponsored by Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation the evening will offer Internationally recognized jazz artists as well as some home grown favorites: Peter Marin sings the standards in the Great American Songbook with the verve and depth of a jazz singer who was good enough to begin working Los Angeles-area nightclubs professionally as a teen. A protégé of the late, great Andy Williams, Marin was likewise schooled by the legendary Johnny Profit. The level of performance and professionalism they taught Peter has served him well, allowing him to have worked with top names in show business for more than 40 years. Jack Jones, Johnny Hartman, Lou Rawls and Frank Sinatra also heavily influenced Peter through their work and their generous spirits. Peter’s love and respect for the music is evident in every lyrical phrase of his fresh, honest and heart-felt delivery.

Gin N Tonix, a high octane a capella jazz quartet are a local group. Their Manhattan Transfer Tribute sounds delight every audience. Friday Trio is a newly formed group composed of local favorites Ellie Theofilopoulos, Tiffany Vakilian, and Eliane Weidauer. They offer American Songbook with a jazzy twist. Piano Man Robert Parker, an award winning pianist and graduate of the Drake University Instrumental Music Department has performed professionally for 4 decades on record, as well as in concert. The Iowa native is a 2010 inductee into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and recognized for his ground breaking appearances on the Ozark Opry show, (Country Variety Television).  Mark Phelps, well-known throughout the community as teacher and bass-player extraordinaire will be adding into the mix.  OHS Jazz Crew will provide a marvelous up and coming student vibe as the evening opener.

Light hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be available.
