San Diego County CA— When disaster strikes, relief cannot wait. Families need shelter, food, water, first aid and emotional support. They need the American Red Cross.
During the first week of June, the American Red Cross of San Diego/Imperial Counties will celebrate our annual Shelter of Hope campaign, which brings awareness to the vital services the Red Cross provides in the community.
Shelter of Hope was developed as a way to help draw attention to the Red Cross and showcase just how crucial donations are to support the Red Cross mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies. Local Red Cross CEO Sean Mahoney will remain in the stimulated shelter until the $500,000 fundraising goal is reached.
We have selected key locations and fun events for our shelter to travel to each day during the weeklong event. On Saturday, June 2 our mock shelter will be at the San Diego County Fair. Join us to find “shelter” from the sun and catch a space to relax, learn family disaster preparedness skills and spend some time with our energetic youth volunteers.
We also welcome the community’s participation at any of our other locations and/or events:
- Friday, June 1: American Red Cross of San Diego/Imperial Counties
- Saturday, June 2: San Diego County Fair
- Sunday, June 3: Liberty Station
- Monday, June 4: Petco Park
- Tuesday, June 5: Old Town San Diego
