An investment of $5,000 was used to support 4 new families in becoming responsible service dog owners
Fallbrook CA— Good Dog! Autism Companions of Fallbrook, CA, graduated four new autism service dog teams with the help of $5,000 grant investment from the Petco Foundation. The Petco Foundation investment helped to educate families by sponsoring Team Training week, an intense training curriculum that includes everything families need to know before they return home with their new service dog.
Good Dog! Autism Companions is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping family’s live better lives through autism service dog companionship. Since 2011, Good Dog! Autism Companions has placed over 40 autism service dogs with families throughout the US.
This grant was made possible through the Petco Foundation’s annual Helping Heroes fundraising campaign, in partnership with Natural Balance Pet Foods. Each October during the campaign, Petco customers are invited to donate online and in Petco stores across the country to support the life-changing work of service, therapy and working animals.
“Our dogs make a huge impact on the families and children they serve, but this is only possible because the families know how to utilize and care for their new furry family members. Because of the support of the Petco Foundation, Good Dog! Autism Companions can support our families in this very critical way, we are incredibly grateful.” said Laura M Sylvester, Executive Director.
