Man Dies after Fight in Oceanside-Updated

UPDATE: The suspect in this case has been identified Joel Cardona, 35-years-old.  He has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility on murder charges.  The victim in this case has been identified as Nestor Jurado, 37-years-old.  The suspect and victim are related

Oceanside CA— This morning, August 2, 2018 at 7:17am, Oceanside Police Officers were dispatched to 632 Arthur Avenue in regard to a fight between two adult males in the front yard of the residence.

Responding officers arrived on scene and discovered one of the men was not breathing so officers began CPR on him. Officers took the other man into custody.

Officers continued CPR on the victim until the paramedics arrived who then took over life saving measures. Medics worked on the victim for several minutes but he could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene. It appears he died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the fight.

Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation as to what occurred.
