Encinitas CA— Indie rock band The Elements will perform Sunday, October14, at the inaugural SHRED IBD, a surf competition hosted by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America in conjunction with the Swami’s Surf Association. Open to all ages, the community event takes place at Oceanside Pier and starts at 8:00 am. The Elements will take the stage at 1:30 pm at the Junior Seau Ampetheter.
The Elements will entertain the crowd with a few of their originals including “Mr. Postman”, “Going Rogue”, and “Lighthouse”. They will also play popular cover songs from bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fitz and the Tantrums, Cage the Elephant, and Talking Heads. A recent addition to their set, ‘Hand Clap” adds a new element of fun by encouraging the audience to clap along.
The idea for SHRED IBD was conceived by Jack Butler, a senior at San Dieguito High School Academy in Encinitas and member the surf team. Butler, who has Crohn’s disease, has been instrumental in producing the event. The Elements are schoolmates with Butler and are honored to support him and the cause. Funds raised will go towards research for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
