December 18th show will bring audience letters to life with musical performances from popular artists, while benefitting a surf camp for veterans
Solana Beach CA— Singer-songwriter and author of the popular For The Sender book and album series, Alex Woodard will host the For The Sender Holiday Show at the Belly Up Tavern on Tuesday, Dec. 18. Doors are at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show. As a special holiday offering, For The Sender will be accepting personal letters from attendees, turning those stories into songs, and performing them live at the show.
In addition to songs based on submitted letters, the performance will feature holiday songs woven through music from all three of the For The Sender albums. Attendees can submit their letters to firstname.lastname@example.org. The For The Sender Holiday Show will once again benefit Team Red, White & Blue (RWB)’s Surf Camp for Veterans. In years past, For The Sender has been able to pay in full for two camps every summer with proceeds from this show.
The show will feature performances from local icons and popular musicians including members of Grammy-winning Nickel Creek, Sean and Sara Watkins (also a member of I’m With Her); Jordan Pundik of platinum-selling New Found Glory; founder Alex Woodard; San Diego Padre and World Series champion Tim Flannery; legendary Eagles songwriter Jack Tempchin (Peaceful Easy Feeling, Already Gone); and local stalwarts Molly Jenson Nena Anderson, and Graham Nancarrow. More special guests will be announced.
“We’re excited to be bringing the Holiday Show back to the Belly Up, with the original cast of characters,” said Alex Woodard, For the Sender’s founder. “Writing and performing songs about letters from people actually in the audience will be special for all of us, and supporting our veterans in experiencing the same joy many of us feel in the water makes the show that much more meaningful.”
The For the Sender book, album, and concert series presents powerful songs and stories of love, loss, redemption and hope inspired by real-life letters and performed by Grammy-winning and platinum-selling artists. The one-of-a-kind project has been recognized by Ellen DeGeneres (‘I love this!’), Billboard (‘one of the year’s most touching releases’), and Huffington Post (‘important, enlightening, and ultimately inspiring’), as well as endorsements from several #1 New York Times bestselling authors.
