San Diego CA— Crews will continue to set temporary wooden and metal structures, also known as falsework, to support the construction of the Trolley overpass spanning Interstate 5 (I-5) at Voigt Drive.
The work started earlier this month and is expected to run through, Thursday, November 29. A series of temporary overnight closures are scheduled to take place on the southbound lanes of I-5.
Motorists should plan to take alternate routes to avoid congestion, as significant delays are expected during these closures.
The upcoming scheduled overnight closures are as follows:
Monday, November 26, through Thursday, November 29:
- Full closure of I-5 southbound lanes from the Interstate 5/Interstate 805 Interchange to La Jolla Village Drive
- From 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night, unless noted otherwise
*These closures are subject to change
The Mid-Coast Trolley Project will extend Blue Line Trolley service from Old Town north to the University City community, serving major activity centers such as Mission Bay Park, the VA Medical Center, UC San Diego, and Westfield UTC. Nine new stations will be constructed. Major construction work began in 2016, with service anticipated to begin in 2021.
