Vista CA— More than 200 volunteers took over the residential units at Solutions for Change for a “Breaking and Entering” event to provide the residents with some holiday cheer.
The residents at Solutions for Change, a San Diego nonprofit that helps homeless parents and children, were told they needed to vacate their homes for several hours so the units could be inspected. When the units were empty and the residents had left the premises, the volunteers from groups and businesses including Welk Resorts, Girl Scout Troops, and Starbucks moved in and began decorating.
Each group supplied their own material and decorations for a formerly homeless family according to the groups designated family’s needs. The donated items included cribs, bedding, food, toiletries, gifts and Christmas trees. The volunteers finished their work before the families returned and were not able to see the smiles and tears of the families members when they realized what had transpired during their absence.
