One Person Dies in Three Vehicle Crash on SR-76 in Oceanside

Oceanside CA— On Monday afternoon, December 17, 2018, just before 4:00, the Oceanside Police Department responded to calls of a serious injury traffic collision involving three vehicles on SR 76 at Old Grove.  Upon arrival, officers located one of the involved drivers still sitting in their vehicle. At that time, the 67-year-old male was conscious and speaking with officers.

The male was transported to the hospital where his health drastically changed.  Despite life saving measures, the male was later declared deceased.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was traveling westbound on SR 76 approaching the intersection of Old Grove where traffic was stopped for the signal light.  The vehicle the deceased was driving rear ended a vehicle in front of him causing a chain reaction into another vehicle.

No other parties were injured as a result of the collision.

The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating this collision. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision. The decedent’s name is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call Accident Investigator Clint Bussey at (760)435-4431.
