San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Investigating Homicide in Vista-UPDATED

Update: The victim in this case has been identified as fifty-one-year-old Xiongvang Thao. The suspect has been identified as fifty-three-year-old Bouavang Thao. Bouavang Thao has been arrested and is currently under guard at a local hospital where he is being treated for a gunshot wound. Bouavang Thao is being held without bail for one count of murder.

Vista CA— Early this morning, December 29, 2018, at approximately 6:40,  Vista Sheriff’s Station deputies and Vista Fire Department personnel responded to a 9-1-1 call from within a residence located in the 1800 Block of Hartwright Road in the City of Vista. The caller stated there were two people shot inside the residence and one was not breathing.

One female adult was pronounced deceased at the scene with a traumatic wound. An adult male was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment for a suspected gunshot wound. His injury is severe and his medical prognosis in unknown.

The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will notify the next of kin and perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
