San Diego public affairs firm strengthens team with four new additions
San Diego CA— Southwest Strategies, one of California’s leading public affairs and public outreach firms with offices in San Diego, Central Valley and the Bay Area, is pleased to announce the addition of four new employees to its growing team in the San Diego office – Senior Account Executive, Amanda von Leer; Senior Account Executive, Jeff Meyer; Senior Account Executive, Zach MacQuarrie; and Account Executive, Rebecca Rybczyk – to support transportation and water projects.
“Amanda’s unique background in public policy analysis, coupled with her strategic communications and government affairs experience, adds significant value to our already accomplished team,” said Vice President Melissa Cameron. “I am confident Amanda will help us to continue to provide our clients with the superior service they expect.”
Prior to joining Southwest Strategies, Amanda worked as Managing Director of Government Relations and Chief of Staff at a government relations and strategic communications firm in Washington, D.C. Amanda launched her career in New Jersey where she worked for her home district’s U.S. congressman and later served as Deputy Budget Director in the New Jersey Senate. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Central Michigan University and a dual Master’s degree in Public Policy and Public Administration from Northwestern University.
A graduate of University of California, Davis, Jeff spent three years with North San Diego Business Chamber. As Senior Manager of Member Relations, he successfully implemented a new outreach strategy for the nonprofit that increased annual membership engagement and retention figures while also expanding the organization’s political advocacy efforts.
“Jeff’s nonprofit experience and insight into North County’s business community is an asset to the firm. We are excited to have him on board,” said Vice President Ben Boyce.
In his role as Senior Account Executive, Jeff works on large-scale infrastructure projects that impact the region’s continued economic growth and development in the years to come.
Zach brings experience directing grassroots operations, government affairs and coalition building to his new role at Southwest Strategies. Before joining Southwest Strategies, Zach worked with Americans for Prosperity. He has an extensive background in political campaigning.
“Zach’s experience in issue advocacy is an asset. He has proven experience in communicating complex issues to the public and translating that outreach into successes,” said Cameron.
Rebecca joins Southwest Strategies after serving as Deputy Press Secretary in Congress where she held a dynamic role in the daily operations of active communications and legislative teams, transforming complex policy items into easy-to-understand messages tailored for a variety of audiences. Rebecca has worked to successfully promote the messaging goals for state and national campaigns, public policy organizations and other advocacy teams.
“Rebecca brings a unique perspective on grassroots advocacy, community outreach and government affairs to Southwest Strategies. Her previous experience on Capitol Hill and with media outreach offers our clients the political and strategic insight to get the job done,” said Boyce.
