Vista Veteran and Business Owner Receives National Recognition

aVista CA— Vista Navy Veteran and business owner Jon Moore has been named franchise owner of the year by JDog Junk Removal & Hauling, a national junk removal franchise owned and operated by Veterans and military family members.  Jon is the second-ever JDog of the Year award winner and was selected from sixty-four owners with 200 active franchises for his commitment to sustainability, rapid growth in the Vista area, and embodiment of JDog’s values through his support of the Vista community and local Veterans.

After high school, Jon enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served for more than 20 years, during which he achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Jon earned the following awards during his time in the service: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8), Good Conduct Medal (6), National Defense Service Medal (2), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and several other personal and unit awards.

Between his three locations, Jon employs five Veterans and three military family members, with plans to hire more.

As part of his commitment to keep items out of the landfill and give back to the community, Jon donates gently used items to local organizations, including the Disabled American Veterans Organization, Be Creative Zone, local churches, the Salvation Army, Camp Pendelton, Goodwill, and Habitat for Humanity.

For his success in keeping items out of the landfill, Jon was awarded the Sustainability Award by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce in October 2018.
