San Diego CA— Lyft has made getting to and from airports easier and more convenient for millions of people across the country, and is announcing a new, more efficient pickup experience coming soon to San Diego International Airport (SAN), starting at Terminal 2. This pilot enhances the suite of offerings Lyft provides in partnership with airports and cities to alleviate congestion, enhance curbside safety, and help riders more easily reach the people and places that matter to them most.
SAN is the first pilot of this program.
How it works:
- Lyft rider requests a ride and is provided a four digit code
- Riders will be directed to a line in a designated area where Lyft drivers will be waiting via in app instructions. Once a passenger reaches the front of the line, they show the next driver their code.
- Drivers will enter the code into the app and the two will be matched. At that point, the driver can see the rider’s destination and all other rider details.
We are excited to build on our reputation as a solution-oriented partner with cities and airports and are grateful to the support and leadership at SAN for their part in getting this pilot off the ground!
“Lyft is committed to improving people’s lives with the best possible transportation. We are grateful for the partnership with San Diego International Airport (SAN) and CEO Kim Becker’s approach to innovation that allowed us to get this pilot off the ground,” said Bakari Brock, senior director of city partnerships at Lyft. “We are excited to partner with additional airports to expand this improved curbside experience.”
