Final Weekend for Oceanside Theatre Company’s Production of ‘Man of La Mancha’

Oceanside CAOceanside Theatre Company (OTC), the resident professional theater company at the Brooks Theater is proud to present Man of La Mancha, one of Broadway’s most successful musicals and the most ambitious musical produced by the company to date. The play opened May 3 with the final shows this Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2pm.

Tickets are available for $19-$34 online at www.oceansidetheatre.org or by calling the box office at 760-433-8900. Oceanside and Carlsbad residents will receive a 30% discount on tickets.

Man of La Mancha, based on the book by Dale Wasserman and directed by OTC Artistic Director Ted Leib, is a powerful, hilarious, and heartbreaking musical about the perseverance of a dying man who refuses to relinquish his ideals or passion. The celebrated score includes “The Impossible Dream,” “I, Don Quixote,” and “I Really Like Him.”

“Man of La Mancha has long been one of my favorite musicals,” shares OTC Artistic Director, Ted Leib, “and is a beautiful way to wrap up this Season at OTC. It is a hauntingly powerful piece that allows audiences to explore every range of emotion.”

To create an even more robust performing arts venue and enhance the historic Brooks Theater building, the Board of Directors will unveil plans for a Brooks Theater Renovation campaign at a VIP reception preceding the opening performance Friday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m.

Oceanside was recently named one of 14 Cultural  Districts by the California Arts Council and OTC plays  a key role within the district, both geographically and with its programs, collaborations, and resources for other non-profit arts organizations.

“The city of Oceanside and downtown specifically, is seeing an unprecedented period of growth and revitalization,” said OTC Board member, Leann Garms, who also serves on the Steering Committee for the Oceanside Cultural District. “In keeping with the progress in Oceanside, the Board is embarking on a 3-phase renovation plan for the Brooks, which will need  everyone’s support. This is our very own professional theater and every citizen has an opportunity to play a leading role in making this vision a reality. “

OTC leadership commissioned an architectural feasibility study last Fall with Luce Architects to see how the building can be improved to become a focal point for the performing arts in Oceanside and a resource to the entire county.

Ann Worth, principal of Luce Studios said about the project, “ quote from Ann” you can make one up and/or pull from the feasibility study narrative. .. TRY THIS: The Brooks is located at the heart of the newly designated CAC downtown Cultural District and its revitalization will greatly contribute to the future success of this district.

The public is invited to stay after the performance Friday night for a champagne after-party to meet the cast and Board of Directors and celebrate the opening..
