Residents Displaced after Duplex Damaged by Fire in Oceanside

Oceanside CA— Friday evening, May 24, 2019 just after 7:00pm, firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire on North Way, in Oceanside.  Engine 214 arrived on scene five minutes after the initial dispatch and found a single story duplex with one unit fully involved in fire.

Crews extended hose lines and conducted a search of the residence. The fire was brought under control approximately 20 minutes after the first engine arrived on scene.  Hose lines were positioned to protect the neighboring homes and reduce the spread of fire within the involved structure.

The involved structure suffered significant damage displacing the residents. The adjacent unit of the duplex was saved from the fire and only had minor damage. One resident was displaced from the second unit due to the electricity being cut off from the unit.

There were no injuries to the residents or firefighters. Two dogs were saved by the firefighters with no apparent injuries to the animals.

The Oceanside Fire Marshall remained on scene to conduct the investigation into the cause and origin of the fire.

Mutual Aid was provided by the Carlsbad and Vista Fire Departments.
