California State Games (CSG) is a multi-sport festival of Olympic-style competition for California’s amateur athletes of all ages and abilities. The Opening Ceremonies is an event where all athletes, parents, and coaches gather to share in the spectacle and pageantry of the Games. Olympic stars will lead the parade of California State Games athletes onto the same field where three Super Bowls have taken place. This is the night when every athlete is treated like an Olympian. State Games is a community-based member of the United States Olympic Committee. Teams and athletes can register for 25 different sports competitions including skateboarding, surfing, soccer and basketball at calstategames.org.
This is not the first time The Elements will perform at an Olympic-style event for amateur athletes. They have been performing at 5-time Olympian Tony Azevedo’s Aquatic Games, an Olympic-style youth water polo tournament, for a few years, most recently June 21 at the Opening Ceremonies at Cal State Long Beach.
Student Athletes themselves, band members have participated in high school sports including track, water polo and swim team at San Dieguito High School Academy. Herrera and Eli Anderson, keyboardist and saxophonist, also play club water polo with Moonlight Beach Water Polo Club and have both competed in the USA Water Polo Junior Olympics.
The Elements have performed on campus and at school events. They perform locally in San Diego at the Leucadia 101 Small Business Saturday, Encinitas 101 Street Fairs, City of Encinitas events, Fiesta Del Sol, San Diego County Fair and Tower 13 in Cardiff.
