Free Events in August at Carlsbad City Library in August

Carlsbad CA— Free events Carlsbad City Library, 1775 Dove Lane, has planned for August including a grand opening celebration for the Chapters café.

Chapters, located at the library’s entrance is now open for business. A grand opening celebration will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring samples from the menu and live music.

At a Glance

  • Chapters offers items for sale such as coffee, espresso drinks, tea, smoothies and baked goods from Break & Cie. Sandwiches and salads are made daily at the café.
  • Chapters is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours vary for special events.
  • The café is owned and operated by Lisa Martel, a long-time North County resident who is excited to make Chapters a warm and welcoming place for Carlsbad City Library patrons.

Good Life Travel Series in August

The Good Life Travel Series returns in August to Carlsbad City Library’s Schulman Auditorium, located at 1775 Dove Lane. Experts will share tips to help attendees enhance their personal travel experiences. Admission is free. Seating is first come, first served.

Aug. 27: Art and Architecture on the Camino: A Cultural Journey (Amanda Schaffer)

Explore the art and architecture on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in northern Spain with artist Amanda Schaffer. From magnificent Gothic cathedrals to unique signage created for present-day pilgrim hostels, see why the path has captivated walkers since the Middle Ages.
