Center for Community Solutions Raises $220,000 at 20th Annual Tea & Tonic

Event held to Help End Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

San Diego CA— Center for Community Solutions (CCS) raised $220,000 at the organization’s 20th Annual Tea & Tonic. The funds raised will be used to further CCS’ mission to provide intervention, healing, advocacy, and prevention programs and services for individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.

“Domestic violence and sexual assault are not inevitable, they are preventable, and the work we do at CCS is focused on that goal,” said Verna Griffin-Tabor, CEO of CCS.  “This year, CCS will serve approximately 20,000 San Diegans who are victims of these crimes and provide them the resources they need to become survivors.  We couldn’t serve them without the support of our sponsors and donors and the greater San Diego community.”

Continuing two decades of tradition, CCS presented the Courage Award to Brandy Kane, who has been a long-time, dedicated ambassador for CCS survivors. The Champion Award recipient was Charles M. Gilbert, whose company, Repairs and Remodels on Demand, has been a steadfast shelter partner for more than 12 years, transforming CCS spaces into nurturing, family-friendly environments.

International humanitarian, bestselling author and TV host, Zainab Salbi, served as the celebrity keynote speaker at the event. As the founder of Women for Women International, a grassroots humanitarian and development organization dedicated to serving women survivors of wars, she has since helped over 480,000 marginalized women rebuild their lives in 8 conflict zones.
