Firefighters Quickly Contain Fire in San Luis Rey River Bed

Oceanside CA— This afternoon, November 4, 2019 just after before 3:00pm, Oceanside fire units arrived on scene at 499 Parkside Drive and confirmed a vegetation fire in the river bottom area behind the Parkside address.

The vegetation fire was approximately 1 acre in size with slow rate of spread in heavy vegetation. Efforts to fight the fire were slightly delayed due to access issues, however knockdown of the main body of fire was achieved by 3:16pm.

This was a collaborative effort with units from Oceanside, Camp Pendleton, and North County Fire all contributing.  Units remained on scene an additional 40 minutes to overhaul the scene.

There were no injuries to any residents or firefighters on this incident.  There was evidence to support that this was a homeless encampment, however no one was found on scene.
