Urban Plates Launches New Selection of $9 Plant-Based Bowls, Now Available at All San Diego Restaurant Locations

Known for its made-from-scratch, affordable meals featuring clean ingredients, the restaurant group debuts vegan, gluten-free, plant-based bowls for just $9

San Diego County CA— Urban Plates launches an all-new line of nutritious, plant-based (100% vegan), and gluten-free bowls at all San Diego County locations (Carlsbad, La Jolla, and Del Mar). Available now for just $9 each, bowls include:

  • Beets + Avocado made with organic red & white quinoa, beets, avocado, walnuts, pickled red onion, dates, hemp seeds, cabbage, coconut, and miso lemongrass dressing
  • Chickpea + Sweet Potato made with chickpeas, organic green lentils, sweet potatoes, red cabbage, goji berries, green peas, kale pesto, and harissa sauce
  • Poblano + Roasted Corn made with organic red lentils, corn, roasted poblanos, red cabbage, celery, tomato pesto, pumpkin seeds, and chipotle lime dressing

Following guest feedback and the availability of seasonal ingredients, Urban Plates plans to launch its plant-based bowl options at locations nationwide in 2020.

“People want to eat flavorful, plant-based foods, but not necessarily the highly processed plant protein options out there today,” says Jim Cannon, Head of Culinary for Urban Plates. “Our new plant-based bowls are just that—delicious, nutritious, and totally processed-food free.”

About Urban Plates

Urban Plates began in 2011 with a single restaurant in Del Mar, California; today, there are 17 locations, with more to come in 2020. Headquartered in Encinitas, CA, the brand has locations throughout San Diego, Orange County, and the greater Los Angeles area, with additional restaurants in Northern California and Washington D.C. The group’s newest debut will open in Manhattan Beach, CA in November 2019, followed by Long Beach, CA in December 2019. Urban Plates’ expansive menu items are made fresh in-house, from scratch, every day and feature clean (organic whenever and as much as possible) ingredients. Recipes feature exclusively GMO-, antibiotic-, and hormone-free, grass-fed and finished steak; line-caught tuna; sustainably sourced seafood; and humanely raised and sourced, cage-free, vegetarian-fed chicken. The group works exclusively with farmers and ranchers that meet its ethical and environmental standards. With menus that include gluten-free, plant-based, dairy-free, pescatarian, low-carb, or any combination of the above, Urban Plates is committed to bringing honest value to its guests (with seven entrees available for just $10).
