Celebrate the Holidays with Your Family and Ours at Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego

Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego offers a seasonal run of Holiday Hits and Epic Classics

San Diego CA— Get your sleigh bells ready because for the first time in Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego history, as we’ll re-open our doors and put out our finest décor for the holidays with a fantastic lineup of holiday hits and epic classics. We’ll re-light the projector and cue the laughs on Nov. 19 with the one and only Jim Carrey as Lloyd Christmas in DUMB AND DUMBER, and operate seven days a week at the Manchester Grand Hyatt thru Dec. 22.

Featuring a holiday lineup packed with musicals, comedies and romance-comedies, Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego will offer nonstop fun for the entire family.  Starting December 4, families, including children ages three-and-up, are invited to Rooftop Cinema Club every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday nights for a fam-tastic lineup of films that are perfect for celebrating the holidays with a great film under the stars. Tickets for kids ages 3-17 are just $12 for a family slate that includes DR. SEUSS’ THE GRINCH (Wed., Dec. 4), A MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL (Thurs., Dec. 5), THE SANTA CLAUSE (Wed., Dec. 11), A CHRISTMAS STORY (Thurs., Dec. 12), THE POLAR EXPRESS (Wed., Dec. 18) and ELF (Thurs., Dec. 19 and Sun., Dec. 22). Two additional family screenings have also been added to the November schedule, with ABOMINABLE set for Thurs., Nov 21, and WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY on tap for Sun., Nov. 24.

A pair of special events have also been scheduled as part of the Family Night fun on Sunday, Dec. 8 and 15:

On Dec. 8, we’ll celebrate an evening of three beloved holiday animated classics that are perfect for the whole family. First, we’ll get your family warmed up with HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, the classic based on the popular Dr. Seuss book. It will be followed immediately after by the memorable Rankin/Bass television special from 1974, THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS, before we close out the night with a presentation of Charles Schultz’s 1965 staple, A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS. And as an added bonus, on Friday, Dec. 20, we’ll re-screen the “Christmas Classics” for the grown-ups and they too can get into the holiday spirit by joining their loved ones in dressing up in matching pajamas for their chance to feel like kids again.

And on Dec. 15, by popular demand, Wooftop Cinema Club will make its return to the Manchester Grand Hyatt as families will have the chance to bring their own special “Max’s” to a screening of the 2000 Jim Carrey hit, HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS. Nearly 50 pooches of all shapes and sizes attended our first Wooftop screening September so if you missed out then, this is your chance to join fellow dog-lovers and get your four-legged friends into the spirit of the holidays by dressing them in their favorite winter sweaters for Wooftop Cinema Club! Special dog treats and other surprise goodies will be available for purchase.

One of the beautiful things about Rooftop Cinema Club is that it has long championed diversity, inclusion and acceptance of all, and the 2019 holiday schedule is reflective of such. This time of year is a perfect opportunity to celebrate “Black Cinema,” and we’ll do so with a roster of films that includes LOVE & BASKETBALL (Nov. 25), THE PREACHER’S WIFE (Dec. 5), A MADEA CHRISTMAS (Dec. 11), and FRIDAY AFTER NEXT (Dec. 13). And we’ll also celebrate the female pioneers of cinema with a “Women in Film” holiday queue that includes SELENA (Nov. 22), BAD MOM’S CHRISTMAS (Dec. 3) and THE HOLIDAY (Nov. 30, and Dec. 9 and 18).

And continuing the inclusion theme, this holiday season, Rooftop Cinema Club will turn its attention toward a serious problem that plagues San Diego – homelessness. We’re beyond excited to partner this holiday season with a very special organization, the Lucky Duck Foundation, which has raised and deployed millions of dollars to improve San Diego’s homeless situation by funding and activating a number of high-impact programs. When guests purchase tickets to any December screening at Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego, they’ll have the option of making an additional donation to the Lucky Duck Foundation to support their efforts in alleviating the suffering of homelessness throughout San Diego.

Starting on “Giving Tuesday” (Tuesday, Dec. 3), Rooftop Cinema Club will launch its very own “12 Days of Giving.” From Dec. 3-15, there will be a donation box at Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego at the Manchester Grand Hyatt where guests can drop off supplies for the homeless. The Lucky Duck Foundation is collecting the following: new socks, sweatshirts, sweatpants, stocking caps, and monetary contributions – we encourage you to show your holiday spirit by supporting the Lucky Duck Foundation’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of homelessness throughout San Diego.

During the holidays, Rooftop Cinema Club’s doors will open one hour before the first film of the night. Start times vary. Dual screenings will take place every Wednesday-Saturday, however, separate admission is required. Tickets and information for all San Diego shows are available on the official Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego website: https://rooftopcinemaclub.com/san-diego/venue/manchester-grand-hyatt/. Please note that seating is limited and tickets do sell out fast!!
