Seattle WA— Earth Day has always been a time of reflection on how we as humans can best appreciate the world around us, and it also happens to be the 5-year anniversary of Seattle-based Eldergrow!
Eldergrow was founded in 2015 with the mission to bring nature indoors to residents living in senior living communities with indoor mobile gardens. In five years, Eldergrow is now in over 20 states and more than 250 senior living communities, providing the healing benefits of therapeutic horticulture to senior residents across the country.
On this special Earth Day, Eldergrow is taking its therapeutic gardening programs where they have never gone before — outside and to the public!
The Farm-to-Fork Organic Herb & Garden Activity Kit is for Everyone
Eldergrow, the originators of indoor therapeutic gardens for senior living communities, now bring you the Eldergrow Farm-to-Fork Garden Herb & Activity Kit. The kit is everything you need to start a garden in your own garden beds—delivered to your door!
In order to bring the benefits of therapeutic horticulture to more people, Eldergrow is debuting the outdoor Farm-to-Fork Garden Herb & Activity Kit—on this special Earth Day, April 22, 2020
In this time of social distancing, people are cooped up inside. Our Farm-to-Fork Garden Activity Kit is great for individual, family, or community activities to tend to nature and receive the health-building benefits of a growing garden.
Think of the Farm-to-Fork Kit as Postmates or UberEats…for gardening. We’re taking our garden kits to everyone, directly to your home or community! Customers will have the option to choose between the Savory Herb Garden Kit or the Happy Hour Herb Garden Kit, each with organic herbs and their own twists on culinary gardening!
Customers will also have exclusive access to an online web portal filled with easy-to-follow garden tutorials, how to videos, and tasty recipes and libations to make with the herbs and engaging activities.
“We at Eldergrow want to make sure that the therapeutic benefits of gardening reach as many of our elders—and friends—as possible. We crafted the Farm-to-Fork Garden Program with everyone in mind.” Says Eldergrow Founder, Orla Concannon, “The kit itself is a very easy and efficient way for people to grow their own gardens — just add water and love.”
Eldergrow’s Response to COVID-19–Virtual Garden Activities and Education
In this unexpected time, where COVID-19 is impacting the senior living industry in unprecedented ways, Eldergrow has been quickly adapting. In order to ensure that the residents are still receiving the therapeutic benefits of nature, Eldergrow has modified their monthly programming to virtual activities and garden coaching.
“It is amazing to see how the gardens are bringing a lot of light and hope into their communities.” says Eldergrow Founder & CEO Orla Concannon. “The staff are working incredibly hard and we want to help the staff, as well as the residents. Some staff have said that our new classes are one of the few things that they can still do, and for residents who haven’t been able to go outside of their communities, the beautiful plants and fragrant herbs are needed now more than ever.”
Eldergrow offers senior living residents a therapeutic connection to nature through two innovative indoor gardening programs. The unique Therapeutic Horticulture Garden program brings nature inside year-round while Eldergrow Educators teach evidence-based, therapeutic horticulture classes. The D-I-Y Culinary Herb Garden program brings farm-to-table into senior living with fresh herbs delivered every month along with a unique Herb of the Month program. Each program is tailored to improve quality of life for our growing community of elders in senior living. Our gardens are handcrafted by disabled veterans and people living with disabilities. Our new Farm-to-Fork Garden Herb & Activity Kit is for everyone and includes everything needed to grow a flourishing herb garden easily and safely on your own!
