Del Mar CA— During this difficult time, small businesses in San Diego are rising to the occasion to support our frontline workers, heroes, and organizations that support those in need. From scoops of a sweet treat to fighting hunger, these North County businesses are doing their part to support the community.
Handel’s Ice Cream Del Mar
Handel’s Ice Cream Del Mar is supporting the community by bringing a sweet treat to those who need a pick-me-up during this time.
Handel’s Ice Cream Del Mar delivered over 500 scoops to the frontline workers at Scripps Health San Diego with their “get a scoop, gift a scoop program”. The program allowed customers to donate a scoop during checkout throughout the month of April. The 500 scoops were gifted to ER doctors, nurses, and staff at the Scripps Health Hospital.
To help make ordering more convenient for their customers while keeping everyone healthy and safe, Handel’s is now taking phone orders and will deliver directly to vehicles and has their pick-up window open for orders. Handel’s Ice Cream Del Mar is open Sunday-Thursday from 12-8PM and Friday and Saturday from 12-9PM. https://handelsicecream.com. 12843 El Camino Real Ste. 108, San Diego, CA 92130. 858-925-7308.
Jimbo’s grocery store donated more than $8,500 to the Jewish Family Service’s Hand Up Food Pantry to help fight hunger and provide food security for families in the community this past month. The proceeds were raised from the 10 cent paper bag fees made through April 6-24th and donated to the cause.
This donation follows their April donation of over $10,000 worth of organic ground beef to the non-profit organization, Kitchens for Good. The non-profit organization equips unemployed individuals with culinary and hospitality training, as well as the life skills they need to launch meaningful careers and make a positive impact on their communities.
