Oceanside CA— Late this morning, Wednesday June 17, at approximately 11:04 am, Oceanside Police officers on patrol drove up on a collision that just occurred on Mission Ave at Airport Rd. They found a sedan that had rear-ended a Pepsi delivery truck on Mission Ave with two subjects in the car and the car was on fire.
The officers pulled both the driver and passenger from the vehicle. The passenger was unconscious and not breathing and CPR was started. The Oceanside Fire Department arrived shortly after and transported the passenger to the hospital where he later died. The driver was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

For an unknown reason, the driver changed abruptly to the number 2 lane and drove directly into the rear of a Pepsi delivery truck that was parked with its hazard lights flashing, on the side of the road.
The driver of the Pepsi truck was not inside his vehicle at the time of the collision.
Alcohol may be a factor in this collision and the investigation is ongoing. The passengers name is being withheld at this time pending notification to the family.
