San Diego CA— On Tuesday, the San Diego Workforce Partnership released an online experience to educate the community about the most promising career opportunities in San Diego County. This comprehensive tool uses real labor market data to help students and job seekers of all ages to:

  • Identify careers that align with their strengths and interests
  • Connect with resources to become work-ready
  • Make informed career decisions
  • Feel confident that there’s a place for them in San Diego’s workforce

Parents and educators can use these tools to help students explore high wage, high growth career options and formulate more concrete ideas about their educational and career path.

Even in the months since the pandemic started, priority sector employers posted thousands of job opportunities. Awareness of these sectors is vital to helping individuals find and plan for stable careers. That education must begin early for students, as they can develop many of the skills needed to thrive in the workforce while still in school. The Workforce Partnership’s tool aligns individuals’ interests with work to guide them toward personally rewarding work that suits them best.

FEATURES:

“I talk to adults all the time who don’t know what they want to be when they grow up, or who wished they had a clearer idea of their career aspirations before going into thousands of dollars of college debt,” says Sarah Burns, Director of Research Application at the San Diego Workforce Partnership. “What a gift it is, then, to engage with students about their career interests well before they need to make decisions about their next step. Workforce.org/mynextmove helps facilitate those conversations and connect students’ interests to the sectors where their talents are most in-demand.”
