Job seekers can text ‘worksforme’ to 36453 to start an application, or simply drive up to select neighborhood McDonald’s on Sept. 16 for an on-the-spot interview, no prior scheduling required
San Diego CA— To keep up with hiring demands and help expedite the process for job seekers eager to get back to work, San Diego County McDonald’s is hosting its first-ever Drive-Up Hiring Day initiative, offering candidates a new, convenient and safe way to apply.
On Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. interested candidates can simply drive up to select San Diego County McDonald’s locations and receive an interview opportunity on the spot, no prior scheduling required.
Local McDonald’s restaurants continue to welcome customers via drive-thru, walk-in, take-out and McDelivery, and have 50 new safety procedures in place to protect crew and customers. These include wellness and temperature checks, protective barriers in the drive-thru, masks and gloves for employees, and new procedures and training.
“We are excited to expand our McFamily and safely help our community get through this difficult time through exceptional job opportunities,” said Jamie Straza, local McDonald’s Owner Operator. “McDonald’s has so much to offer – whether you have decades of work experience or none at all – including competitive starting wages, flexible hours, amazing team members, employee discounts and outstanding opportunities for growth. When you work with McDonald’s, you gain valuable skills and real-world experience that can help you go further than you thought possible.”
Through a job at a McDonald’s restaurant, individuals will not only learn work readiness skills – such as teamwork, customer service and responsibility – they will also have the chance to further their education. McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity program allows restaurant employees to earn a high school diploma, receive $2,500 in upfront college tuition assistance, access free education and career advising services and learn English as a second language. In addition to Archways to Opportunity, McDonald’s invests in the communities it serves through two major scholarship programs: HACER® National Scholarships and Thurgood Marshall Black and Positively Golden Scholarships.
In addition to visiting a select San Diego County McDonald’s location on Sept. 16 or if a location is not nearby, job seekers can text ‘worksforme’ to 36453 to start an application via text, or visit McDonalds.com/careers to learn more and apply to a restaurant near them. They can also start a job application by saying, “Alexa, help me get a job at McDonald’s” to any Alexa device or saying, “Hey Google, help me get a job at McDonald’s” to any device with the Google Assistant built-in. Potential applicants will receive a text message shortly thereafter with a link to continue their application process.
