Cynthia’s Artistic Expressions Creates New Mural in Downtown O’side

Oceanside CA— Cynthia and W.B. May, owners of Cynthia’s Artistic Expressions, 713 Mission Ave. Ste. C, saw a few businesses close around them due to Covid-19 and the mandatory shut downs so they created a new outdoor mural on their downtown location to stimulate new traffic to the area and brighten the lives of people passing by.

Cynthia’s Artistic Expressions is a veteran owned art gallery and paint studio that specialize in museum quality fine art and custom sip and paint parties. “My husband and I are two Gulf War Navy veterans who found art to be therapeutic for us after leaving the military,” explained Cynthia via email. “W.B was diagnosed with PTSD and I was diagnosed with anxiety. I was a green side hospital corpsman who became a nurse after getting out and discovered art therapy as part of my training in nursing school. I encouraged my husband to paint and did he paint.”  Cynthia continued, “W.B. is a wonderful portrait artist. We both began to see improvements in our moods and a decrease in symptoms. Art became our therapy and we decided to open our gallery and paint studio to share this passion and love for art with others who may be suffering from the same things. As a nurse and first responder, I definitely needed all the help I could get.”

Cynthia’s Artistic Expressions has donated art and time to many organizations and people in the community like the NAACP of North County, Oceanside Police Department via the Coffee with a Cop program, Chula Vista Veterans Home, Muramid Mural Museum, WorldBeat Cultural Center and the Veterans Memorial Museum in Balboa Park, San Diego to cite a few. They have hosted paint fundraisers to help non profit organizations raise money for there causes as well.

“We love what art can do and my husband W. B. believes Art save lives,” said Cynthia.
