Cherished COASTER Holiday Express continues fun family tradition in a safe and modified way
Oceanside CA— The North County Transit District (NCTD) is continuing one of San Diego’s most cherished holiday traditions – with a 2020 twist! On Saturday, December 19, at 10:00 a.m., NCTD will host its annual COASTER Holiday Express – only this year, even Santa has managed to go virtual! Santa and his merry carolers will broadcast live from the COASTER train via Zoom and into the homes of hundreds of families.
“This year has changed much of our daily lives and practices,” said Tony Kranz, NCTD Board Chair and City of Encinitas Councilmember. “Still, while NCTD remained focused in 2020 on delivering safe, essential transit services to our customers, it was of paramount importance for us to be able to deliver on our annual tradition and bring holiday cheer to families at the end of such a challenging year.”
While the COASTER Holiday Express traditionally takes passengers on a 65-minute non-stop round-trip tour down the coast, this year’s Holiday Express will be 100% virtual and can be enjoyed from the comfort of your living room from anywhere in the world. Santa and his merry carolers will be hosting an hour of fun with classic holiday songs, tales from the North Pole, and live readings of children’s wish lists, which have been emailed to him in true 2020 virtual style.
Tickets for this year’s event are FREE. Families can reserve their spot in advance of the event here. One virtual link will be provided per household.
