All Shook Up Rocks with North County’s Ovation Theatre Streaming Performances of This Jukebox Musical

Encinitas CA— Ovation Theatre is proud to present a virtual stream of the innovative, live production of All Shook Up: Inspired By and Featuring the Songs of Elvis Presley®, putting Ovation at the forefront of all theatre companies nationwide as they reinvent the delivery of live performing arts. Built around the songs of a musical legend, we’re taken to 1955 in a square little town in a square little state where a guitar-playing young man rides in and changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and including such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel,” this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes!

.Artistic director, Pamela Laurent, and musical director, Scott Gregory—the driving forces behind Ovation’s mounting list of award-winning productions— transformed an outdoor roving theatre  on grounds featuring historic buildings and a circular stage into smalltown middle America, where the musical takes place. And together with choreographer, Susie Dycus, they bring to life the rowdy and, at other times, tender music.

Featuring many of the most talented and dedicated young actors in San Diego County, Ovation Theatre’s award-winning production showcases brilliant vocalists, extraordinary ensembles, and attention to detail reminiscent of the very best that Broadway has to offer. The hip-swiveling, motorcycle driving roustabout Chad is played by Wyatt Rhinehart (Valley Center), who channels his inner Elvis and wows the love-seeking tomboy Natalie, portrayed with enthusiasm by Sydney Olson (Oceanside) while her best friend, Dennis (played by Ryan Myers of Poway) secretly pines away. In the meantime, Emily Dafoe (San Diego) as the glamorous museum owner, Sandra, shows us the power of love as Natalie’s widowed father, played by Nathan Haug (Encinitas), also becomes a fool in love. Thus leading Isabella Thierry (Carlsbad), as Sylvia, the owner of the local honky tonk to deliver a belty lament in “There’s Always Me.” Rounding out the cast is the wholesome blossoming love of Lorraine and Dean, played by Natalie Musgrove (Oceanside) and Nick Siljander (Encinitas), that is threatened by the quest for decency in the town by Mayor Matilda, who also happens to be Dean’s mother. And wrapping it all up into a nifty Shakespearean bow, you won’t be surprised that you can’t help but to fall in love with this production.
