Homicide Suspect Arrested after Road Rage Incident in Oceanside

Victim was assaulted while trying to intervene in argument between drivers

Oceanside CA— Late Friday afternoon, February 5, 2021, Officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to a radio call of a male subject bleeding from his head and not breathing in the 4700 block of Westridge Drive. Officers and Paramedics arrived on scene shortly thereafter and began rendering medical aid to the 45 year-old Victim.  The victim, whose name is not being disclosed at this time, was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that an elderly male subject and Richard Ramirez (53 years old) were involved in a road rage incident. The elderly male drove to his residence and Ramirez followed him there. Both men exited their vehicles and a verbal argument ensued. The victim in this case tried to intervene between the two men and was physically assaulted by Ramirez. Ramirez fled the area after the assault and was later arrested by OPD Officers.

This is still an active investigation and no further details are being released at this time.
