Carlsbad CA— May is American Cheese Month and Gelson’s is celebrating by hosting a virtual tasting event featuring Wisconsin Cheese on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 6 p.m. Wisconsin Cheese representatives will lead the event including Deer Creek Cheese Founder Chris Gentine, Cheesemaker Marieke Penterman and Education Manager Molly Browne.
The event is the first cheese-focused tasting and will feature a Gelson’s curated cheese plate for two ($23.99) including Marieke Gouda (4-6 months) – smooth and mellow this lightly aged Gouda is carefully cured on Dutch Pine planks; Marieke Bacon Gouda – featuring award-winning juicy bacon from Nolechek’s meats; Deer Creek’s The MoonRabbit Cheddar – handcrafted Wisconsin sweet finish cheddar bathed in green chartreuse; and Deer Creek’s The Blue Jay – a juniper berry infused quintuple crème blue. The cheese plate will also include curated accompaniments.

Pickup dates for the cheese plate will be on May 19 and 20, 2021. Pickup is available at Gelson’s Pacific Beach at 730 Turquoise St., San Diego, CA 92109; Gelson’s Del Mar at 2707 Via De La Valle, Del Mar, CA 92014; and Gelson’s Carlsbad at 7660 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009.
The event is part of an ongoing virtual tasting series featuring Gelson’s hand-picked wine, beer, spirits, and food selections.
Gelson’s is also gifting a year’s supply of cheese from Wisconsin Cheese (a $500 value) to one lucky cheese lover. A runner-up winner will receive $250 towards Wisconsin Cheese.
