Two Injuries Reported at Residential Fire in Northeast Oceanside

Oceanside CA— One citizen bystander sustained a hand injury while trying to enter a burning structure to search for any occupants prior to fire department arrival at 4918 Siesta Drive, in Oceanside. One firefighter sustained a minor injury when the Oceanside Fire Department units responded to the reported residential structure fire just before 10:00am this morning, June 3, 2021.

The first arriving engine found a small single story, single family residence with smoke and flames from the front bedroom window. Fire department crews entered the house to find heavy smoke and heat. They quickly found the main body of fire, extinguished it and gained access to the spaces in the ceiling and wall to check for extension.

Fire personnel were able to extinguish the fire and clear the structure of any occupants in approximately 10 minutes.

Initial reports indicated the residents were still inside, however upon search, they were found in the back yard. Units remained on scene for an additional thirty minutes to overhaul the site.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
